“Trent’s Journey: A Testament to Resilience and Hope

Trent McDuffie’s story is one of resilience, faith, and love in the face of profound loss. It began with the unexpected passing of his brother, Tyler, during his 8th grade year—a heartbreaking event that shattered his world but also sparked a transformation. Amid his grief, Trent found a steadfast faith in God, a deep appreciation for family, and strength in his motto, “Power 2 Overcome.”

The path through grief is rarely linear. For Trent, it was marked by moments of despair and significant victories that helped him move forward. Supported by loved ones, he learned that healing doesn’t mean forgetting, but rather honoring his brother’s memory and letting that love guide him. This understanding became the foundation of his mission to uplift other young people facing similar struggles.

Through the T-22 Foundation, Trent extends his journey to others, offering hope and guidance. By sharing his experiences, he empowers others to turn pain into purpose, showing that healing is not only possible but can lead to strength and community. Through his “Power 2 Overcome,” Trent celebrates life amid loss, uncovering resilience and inspiring others along the way.

About Tyler

Tyler Steen was the second eldest of five siblings, known for his gentle spirit and unwavering dedication to protecting those he loved. His love for the outdoors and football shaped his life, leading him to immerse himself in the game. Tyler not only played but also took on the role of coach for his younger siblings in youth leagues, sharing his knowledge and fostering a love for the sport in them.

Beyond football and the outdoors, Tyler could be found with a book in hand. His love of fantasy and science fiction––specifically Game of Thrones and Lord of The Rings––led to Trent’s own enjoyment of reading.

Tragically, Tyler's life was cut short in 2015 due to a respiratory issue that he fought vehemently, ultimately leading to heart failure. Though he has moved on from this Earth, his legacy lives on through his family and through the work of the T22 Foundation.
